Little Fish for Baby Boy Johnson!

I finished the fishy quilt this afternoon! It feels really good to finally feel like I have finished something! One less WIP in the sewing room. ;) I was lucky enough to find a little more of the striped fabric at JoAnn a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE how it worked out for the binding! I think it sort of ties the whole thing together. I used an orange polka dot for the back as well. It is a little larger polka dot. This quilt was made as a gift for a girl at work who is due in January with a little boy. They aren't revealing his name until he makes his arrival, so for now he is "baby boy" Johnson.
I want to also say thanks to my friend Amanda for helping me pin baste this quilt together.

Holy scrapamoley!

I went to visit my incredibly creative friend Amanda on Thursday and became inspired to try and do something with my scrap fabric. So I came home on Friday and dumped them on the coffee table. Keep in mind that this table is 3.5 feet square and this wasn't even all of my scraps.

It got worse before it got better, LOL!

Apparently they make a good kitty napping place. ;)

So.... Where do I go from here?

Back to my day sewing with Amanda...
We had such a nice time. We both had quilts to work on, although I'd bet money that she will be done with hers before I am done with mine, even though mine is considerably smaller. And yes, I did use the orange border for the fishy quilt.
It was really nice to be able to catch up with Amanda and her family. We have been friends for a long time and don't get the chance to see each other as often as we used to. Thanks for having me down Amanda!

A bit of randomness....

Mostly because I haven't posted in so long. I have just been sort of spread a little thin lately.
In no particular order here is what has been keeping me busy.
First of all I joined an ebay group called Haute Couture for Kids. They are doing a designer's challenge and I can't wait to share those pictures with you, but I can't give any sneak peeks until the contest actually starts. But the challenge was to use the color red, applique, buttons and zippers all in the same outfit. If you know me, you know that zippers are my nemesis, and so when you finally see the finished product, you will see that I MAY, (just may) have conquered a bit of my fear of them. I am sending it off tomorrow to have it professionally modeled and photographed. I can't wait to see the pictures!

I have also been dreaming up ideas for Valentine's Day outfits. I have an idea for a red and white polka dot dress that I want to try. I have to figure out how much fabric to buy and draw up the pattern.

I have also been oogling and drooling over some of the fabulous outfits on ebay. This one is my current favorite.
I have been working on a little raggy baby quilt to donate at church, too. I'll post pictures of that when I get it done.
I still haven't finished the fishy quilt, either.

We had our first dusting of snow a couple weeks ago and I took just a minute out of my housecleaning to take these pictures of my flowers with the snow on them.

Work has been a little crazy lately and I have been a little extra tired in the evening, so I haven't been getting as much done in the evenings, either. I feel like I have a ton of things in the works and very little finished. Feeling a little scattered when it comes to projects these days. I have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off this week and I hope to get a few things accomplished during my days off. I am also planning to go and visit my good friend Amanda. We hope to get some sewing done on Thursday. I can't wait to see her and her family! It has been a while since we had some time to just spend together. I am really looking forward to it.

I want to say Thank You to Kristen from Reclaiming The Home for the mention in her blog about the Kreativ blogger award. I do want to follow up with this, but feel it deserves its own post.

And now it is suddenly almost bedtime and I still have things to do, so I had best bid farewell for this evening.

Whadda ya think?

Do I use the orange polkadot for a border? or do I use this piece for a back and border it with white (or something else)? Mind you, the border won't be nearly this wide.

Aeris didn't know either. Silly Booga!

This little quilt will be for a girl at work who is having a baby boy in January. I wish I had more of these fabrics, but I have used every little scrap I had of them and they don't have them at Joann's anymore. They had been sitting in my stash for a little while. I think they might still have the orange tone on tone stripe, but that's all.

As a side note, I found it rather humorous that last night when I showed it to my husband (when he was groggy from napping) he at first thought the little crabs were "Mr. Kool-Aid" :0)
